\"\"<\/a>Much like the world did thousands of years ago, mankind cries out for a savior. So far there is one candle lit on the Advent wreath, as we await our Redeemer. Wait a minute Frank, you say, I don\u2019t believe in God. And yet you still yearn for something more than what you have experienced in this life so far, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

Is this all there is?<\/a> To the strong go the spoils? And then what? Death. There must be another way, and of course there is. So we cry out for a deliverer, even when we mistakenly think that we can extricate ourselves from our troubles by ourselves.<\/p>\n

Today then there are only three songs in this edition of Music for Mondays.<\/em> Three artists all yearning for something, and all recognizing our need to look elsewhere for salvation. That and the fact that we need to do something about it. Embedded in these lyrics (with a little help from today\u2019s readings<\/a>) are the same prayers cried out by the children of Israel since the reign of the House of David came to an end:<\/p>\n

Maranatha, Come!<\/p>\n

CSNY<\/strong>, Woodstock<\/em>. Because we\u2019ve got to get ourselves back to the Garden.<\/p>\n

All nations shall stream toward it;<\/em>
\nmany peoples shall come and say:<\/em>
\n\u201cCome, let us climb the LORD\u2019s mountain,<\/em>
\nto the house of the God of Jacob,<\/em>
\nThat he may instruct us in his ways,<\/em>
\nand we may walk in his paths.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
