Talk about things that are \u201cridiculously Catholic,\u201d how about ridiculously Orthodox things like<\/a>\u2026BARFIGHT! Oh wait\u2026CHURCHFIGHT! <\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\nI mean a fight instead of field-daying (read \u201ccleaning\u201d) the building is always more appealing. <\/p>\nSheeeeesh. This is getting to be a routine, nay, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlanticwire.com\/global\/2011\/12\/bethlehem-rings-christmas-annual-priestly-broom-fight\/46724\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">traditional, occurrence<\/a>. Call me crazy, but maybe it\u2019s time this \u201cresponsibility\u201d was outsourced to a neutral cleaning company, and then the costs shared five ways among the various parties involved here. That way, see, the holy places might actually get cleaned<\/em> in time for Christmas, Easter, etc.<\/p>\nHere\u2019s who the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs says is involved,<\/p>\n<blockquote>The Christian community of Jerusalem is divided into Eastern Orthodox, Monophysite, Roman Catholic, Uniate and Protestant denominations. Apart from the Armenian community, most of whom are descendants of refugees who arrived from Turkey in the 1920\u2019s, the overwhelming majority of Christians in Jerusalem are descendants of the ancient Christian communities of the Byzantine period.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nWho on earth would mediate the meeting to choose the vendor? And negotiate the \u201ccost sharing\u201d arrangements? Something tells me the Inter-Faith Dialogue folks won\u2019t be able to get the job done. Perhaps the Dalai Lama is available.
