In fact, she transcends homosexuality in the same manner that she transcends everything, be it politics, economics, justice, health, and every other category you can name that involves the human person. Everyone who is a member of fallen humanity, say \u201caye!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Anchoress, Mark Shea<\/a>, Marc Barnes, Michael Voris<\/a> (!), and I all line up on the same side of the room when it comes to the teachings of the Church on homosexuality. Why? Because we believe her teachings. And though I can\u2019t speak for my friends standing on the same side of the room with me, I can speak for myself when I admit that I once did not. The same is true for the Church\u2019s teachings on marriage, divorce, contraception, the death penalty, etc., etc. Like many a (former) Protestant, see, I was my own Pope. The buck stopped here.<\/p>\n

Of course, that\u2019s also where the loving stopped. But no longer. Why? Because as the Founder<\/a> said to our first Pope,<\/p>\n

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said it again two chapters later,<\/p>\n

Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That was before he was crucified, died, and rose again. After that world rocking event (literally, there were earthquakes, y\u2019all<\/a>), just in case everybody forgot the first two times, Christ mentioned it again when he appeared in the Upper Room after his resurrection,<\/p>\n

Jesus said to them again, \u201cPeace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.\u201d And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, \u201cReceive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.\u201d (John 20:21<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

which is where the Church gets a) her teaching authority, and b) the power to forgive our sins, c) guidance of the Holy Spirit, etc., etc. It took me a while to notice these things, but they were always right there in the scriptures and the Catechism<\/a>, and you\u2019ll also find them in other top secret documents<\/a> that are only a Google search away<\/a>. All of which puts me on the wrong side of *cough* history.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be bored by me though, as I already said my piece about marriage<\/a> a while back. Go read Marc\u2019s smackdown on Christian Marriage<\/a>, and the rest of my other friend\u2019s writings and videos. The Anchoress, see, put a nice post full of links together for the whole world<\/a>. Taste and see the fruits of their labor, built upon the teachings of the Church. Fill their comboxes with praise or vitriol as you see fit. Just keep in mind what the Founder said, as we were reminded in today\u2019s Gospel reading<\/a>,<\/p>\n

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying:
\n\u201cHoly Father, keep them in your name
\nthat you have given me,
\nso that they may be one just as we are one.
\nWhen I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me,
\nand I guarded them, and none of them was lost
\nexcept the son of destruction,
\nin order that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
\nBut now I am coming to you.
\nI speak this in the world
\nso that they may share my joy completely.
\nI gave them your word, and the world hated them,
\nbecause they do not belong to the world
\nany more than I belong to the world.
\nI do not ask that you take them out of the world
\nbut that you keep them from the Evil One.
\nThey do not belong to the world
\nany more than I belong to the world.
\nConsecrate them in the truth.
\nYour word is truth.
\nAs you sent me into the world,
\nso I sent them into the world.
\nAnd I consecrate myself for them,
\nso that they also may be consecrated in truth.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And the truth will set us free.<\/p>\n
