Nashville billboards claim Jesus will return May 21, 2011<\/h1>\n

There are 24 shopping days left till Christmas.<\/p>\n

And 171 days left until Jesus\u2019 second coming.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the message on 40 billboards around Nashville, proclaiming May 21, 2011, as the date of the Rapture. Billboards are up in eight other U.S. cities, too.<\/p>\n

Fans of\u00a0Family Radio Inc.<\/a>, a nationwide Christian network, paid for the billboards. Family Radio\u2019s founder, Harold Camping, predicted the May date for the Rapture.<\/p>\n

Their message is simple \u2014 \u201cHe Is Coming Again\u201d \u2014 and their aim is to get unbelievers to turn around quickly. But critics say the billboards are a waste of time, one more failed attempt to predict the end of the world.<\/p>\n

The Rapture is going to be a great day for God\u2019s people but awful for everyone else, said Allison Warden, 29, who orchestrated Nashville\u2019s billboard campaign. She\u2019s a volunteer withWeCanKnow.com<\/a>, a website set up by followers of Family Radio. She and other fans designed the billboards, along with T-shirts, bumper stickers and postcards to get Camping\u2019s predictions out.<\/p>\n
