Just came across this movie called Higher Ground<\/em> and it doesn\u2019t look like your \u201cnormal\u201d Christian movie.<\/p>\n For starters it\u2019s rated R. Except for Passion of the Christ<\/em> I can\u2019t think of another Christian movie rated R. So there\u2019s that.<\/p>\n They also use the word \u201cpenis\u201d in the trailer. Maybe it\u2019s the Jr. Higher stuck in side of me that finds that mildly amusing, but once again, not sure I can think of another Christian movie that uses that particular word.<\/p>\n Finally, this movie seems like an honest portrayal of faith, at least from what little I can tell from the preview.<\/p>\n It starts with that wonderfully, awkward phenomena of raising your hand while \u201call heads are bowed and eyes are closed.\u201d But then it appears to tackle some really interesting, often times taboo subjects like \u201csexual chemistry,\u201d the bizarre phenomena of speaking in tongues<\/a>, and drug abuse. Now, granted these issues have been covered in other Christian movies, but they usually involve the \u201csinner\u201d before they come to Jesus, while in this movie the characters dealing with these issues are the \u201csaints\u201d who are struggling after<\/em> they get saved.<\/p>\n Maybe it\u2019s just me, but this looks interesting. What do you think?<\/p>\n
