Apparently typing the name \u201cJesus Christ\u201d in a text message may become illegal in Pakistan very soon. The Lord\u2019s name is part of a list of over 1,000 words that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has deemed\u00a0\u201cobscene\u201d and\/or \u201cexplicit\u201d.<\/p>\n

Along with \u201cJesus\u201d, texters in Pakistan will also be banned from using such wonderful words as:\u00a0flatulence, fingerfood, fairy, and Wuutang (apparently that is the Pakistani spelling).<\/p>\n

Seriously. Here\u2019s more of the list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I think we need an Occupy Pakistan movement to rise up and defend the people\u2019s right to text about the Wu-Tang Clan farting after eating \u00a0fingerfoods given to them by their fairy godmother.<\/p>\n

Tragic. Simply Tragic.<\/p>\n

Next week, these text messages could be banned in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Do the above sentences seem innocuous? Harmless perhaps? If a proposed ban passes in Pakistan, none of the above sentences could be sent as text messages.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) compiled a list of over 1,000 words, the majority in English, that they deem \u201cpornographic or offensive to Islam,\u201d Newsweek Pakistan\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

A document online that purports to be the banned word list reads like a primer on junior-high-level sex slang with some surprising additions, including the terms \u201cJuggalo\u201d and \u201cJesus Christ\u201d (who knew the\u00a0Insane Clown Posse<\/a>\u00a0had a following in Pakistan?).<\/p>\n

On Monday, Newsweek reports mobile operators postponed implementing the ban, saying they needed further clarification, but that the ban could take place within a week\u2019s time.<\/p>\n
