{"id":6371,"date":"2012-04-03T07:01:46","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T12:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theamericanjesus.net\/?p=6371"},"modified":"2012-04-03T07:01:46","modified_gmt":"2012-04-03T12:01:46","slug":"strangest-jesus-appearance-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/zackhunt\/2012\/04\/strangest-jesus-appearance-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"Strangest Jesus Appearance Ever?"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the years we\u2019ve seen Jesus pop up on everything from a grilled cheese, to tree bark, to a pastry, and of course who could forget Cheesus?<\/p>\n<p>Jesus seems to appear on food products so often we almost expect to find his image every time we open a bag of chips.<\/p>\n<p>But this is a new one for me and it may just be the strangest Jesus sighting ever.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus\u2019 face on a dead stingray?!<\/p>\n<p>Really??<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theamericanjesus.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/jesus-ray.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6372\" title=\"jesus ray\" src=\"https:\/\/theamericanjesus.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/jesus-ray.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"418\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Woman sees Jesus\u2019 face on dead ray<\/h1>\n<div>By BRENDA RINDGE<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>CHARLESTON \u2014 It\u2019s not as famous as Grilled Cheesus or the Nun Bun, but the image a James Island woman found Friday on the back of a dead cownose ray may be one day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just kind of thought it looked like a bearded homeless man,\u201d said Erica Scheldt, 24. \u201cBut when I posted pictures on Instagram, one of my friends was like, \u2018That\u2019s Jesus.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Oh my God! You\u2019re right!\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scheldt and family members have been trying since then to name her find. So far, they\u2019ve come up with Ray Rey. \u201cRey\u201d means king in Spanish.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Over the years, images of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Mother Teresa and Buddha have been spotted on everything from baseballs to lava lamps, cinnamon buns, beehives and grilled cheese sandwiches. Or at least they have in the eyes of some people.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, or maybe not, one of the most recent sightings of Jesus on an inanimate object came on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, when a man in Espanola, N.M., found Christ on a tortilla.<\/p>\n<p>But as far as it\u2019s known, never has such an image appeared here in the Holy City. Until last week.<\/p>\n<p>Scheldt, a graduate student, was having a good Friday, swimming at Sullivan\u2019s Island while baby sitting Gloria Orvin, 5, and one of her friends. Then some men warned her about rays in the water.<\/p>\n<p>When Scheldt and the youngsters exited the ocean, the men showed her a dead ray that had washed ashore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey put it back in the water, and it came up again and got beached,\u201d she said. \u201cThe girls and I were looking at it and I thought it looked like a homeless man on its back, so I snapped some pictures.
