From time to time we hear complaints about small businesses using Christian imagery or Bible verses.<\/p>\n

Some people complain because they feel like the owner\u2019s faith is being shoved in their face. Other\u2019s complain that the company is using religion to manipulate the faithful into buying what they\u2019re selling.<\/p>\n

Can\u2019t say, though, that I\u2019ve ever heard of a non-faith-based company using Christian imagery to sell their business before.<\/p>\n

It should be interesting to see the response.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, how about you?<\/p>\n

Legal Sea Foods features a Jesus fish and Brokeback Mountain in its new advertising<\/h1>\n

Gay cowboys, dead grandpas \u2014 and even Jesus \u2014 are among the targets of Legal Sea Foods latest advertising campaign.<\/p>\n

The Boston chain, which has a reputation for fresh seafood and edgy marketing, is now likening the restaurant to a religious experience, complete with its own \u201cJesus fish\u201d that features the word \u201cLegal\u201d written in the space created by the two intersecting arcs.<\/p>\n

Legal Sea Foods\u2019 version of the popular Christian symbol is already emblazoned on the top of cabs around Boston and in print publications.<\/p>\n

Roger Berkowitz, the company\u2019s chief executive, said the ad is not intended to make a religious statement. \u201cI\u2019m not really trying to offend anybody,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The campaign, created by New York ad agency DeVito\/Verdi, is not the first one from Legal Sea Foods to push boundaries. A few years ago,\u00a0the chain roiled the waters\u00a0<\/a>with its $150,000 marketing blitz that took aim at MBTA workers with lines like, \u201cThis conductor has a face like a halibut\u201d and, \u201cThis trolley gets around more than your sister.\u201d<\/p>\n
