I really hope this isn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n

I really hope somebody scribbled \u201cpastor\u201d on the receipt after the fact.<\/p>\n

But it looks like they didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

It looks like somebody out there is just a really poor excuse for a pastor.<\/p>\n

This sort of thing is ridiculous in the first place, but coming from a pastor it\u2019s repugnant and embarrassing to the rest of us who think Jesus actually meant all that stuff he said about generosity, kindness, and love.<\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> Apparently the pastor in question has responded to the backlash<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UPDATE #2:<\/strong> The waitress who posted the receipt has been fired<\/a>\u2026after the pastor who left the receipt called Applebee\u2019s to complain.<\/p>\n

A person claiming to be a pastor\u00a0apparently tried to stiff a waiter on a tip<\/a>, explaining that their work for God absolved them of having to leave one.<\/p>\n

A photo of the receipt,\u00a0posted to Reddit.com<\/a>, shows a bill for $34.93 that included an automatic 18 percent gratuity ($6.29) above a blank space for an additional tip.<\/p>\n

\u201cI give God 10%,\u201d the diner wrote on the receipt, scratching out the automatic tip. \u201cWhy do you get 18?\u201d The person then wrote \u201cPastor\u201d above their signature, and an emphatic \u201c0\u201d where the additional tip would be.<\/p>\n

The Reddit user who submitted the image explained in the comments section that the receipt was part of a total bill of over $200 for a party of 20, which is why the gratuity was automatically added.<\/p>\n

\u201cParties up to eight \u2026 may tip whatever they\u2019d like, but larger parties receive an automatic gratuity,\u201d the server wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s in the computer, it\u2019s not something I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The server added: \u201cThey had no problem with my service, and told me I was great. They just didn\u2019t want to pay when the time came.\u201d<\/p>\n
