Tomorrow I\u2019ll be starting my Blogmatics series<\/a>, but today I thought I\u2019d due my Christian duty and warn you that the internet is likely to shut down sometime in the next few days.<\/p>\n

How do I know that?<\/p>\n

Because Bono said something about Jesus.<\/p>\n

But not just any something. Bono called Jesus \u2018the Son of God\u2019 in a new interview with Focus on the Family<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And if history tells us anything, it\u2019s that Christians everywhere freak out whenever Bono says something even remotely positive about his faith. Now he\u2019s apparently laying all his cards on the table, which means we need to prepare for Bono-Jesus overload.<\/p>\n

When you combine that most innate of American Christian desires to have a celebrity brother or sister in Christ, with the quasi-hero worship of Bono, and mix in the untamed juggernaut that is social media you have yourself a recipe for total internet overload.<\/p>\n

Look, I know Twitter and Facebook have some great servers.<\/p>\n

But are those servers strong enough to handle posting \u201cOMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! BONO LOVES JESUS!!!\u201d a billion times a minute (and that\u2019s just a rough per person estimate)?<\/p>\n

I kinda doubt it.<\/p>\n

Now, I could be wrong. The internet is a funny thing. Maybe people won\u2019t get that excited. Maybe they\u2019re still scarred over Mumford & Sons\u2019 refusal to become a worship band<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But this is Bono, he\u2019s like the patron saint of Christian celebrities.<\/p>\n

If he is for us, then who can be against us!<\/p>\n

U2\u2019s Bono: Yes, Jesus\u00a0is\u00a0the Son of God<\/h2>\n

Bono, the lead singer of the\u00a0Irish rock band U2<\/a>, is declaring that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is indeed the Son of God.<\/p>\n

In a brand-new interview with Focus on the Family set to air Tuesday, the rock star and activist sounded like \u201cMere Christianity\u201d author C.S. Lewis who argued Jesus was a lunatic, liar or Lord.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen people say \u2018Good teacher,\u2019 \u2018Prophet,\u2019 \u2018Really nice guy,\u2019 \u2026 this is not how Jesus thought of himself,\u201d Bono said. \u201cSo, you\u2019re left with a challenge in that, which is either Jesus was who He said He was or a complete and utter nut case.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I believe that Jesus was, you know, the Son of God,\u201d Bono said, according to a transcript provided to\u00a0Religion News Service<\/a>. \u201cI understand that for some people and we need to \u2026 if I could be so bold, need to be really, really respectful to people who find that ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n
