David Joseph Platt is an American pastor from Atlanta Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism before attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master's in Divinity and Theology, as well as obtaining his doctorate. At 26 years old, Platt was hired to lead The Church of Brook Hills in Birmingham Alabama, making him the youngest megachurch pastor in America. He is the author of the New York Times Best Seller "Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream." In this book Platt challenges readers to consider how we have manipulated the gospel to fit cultural preferences. Platt also founded a resource ministry called Radical.net that provides access to his books, sermons, and podcasts. In 2014 Platt was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board, which is one of the largest missionary sending organizations in the world. Platt is currently the pastor of McLean Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia. The multi-site megachurch has several locations in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. The church brings in about 13,000 attendees each week to its five campus locations. He currently resides in Washington D.C. with his wife, and four children.
