In the Book of Mormon, we learn of a standardized system of weights and measures for things such as gold, barley, silver, and more. Many years after the publication of the Book of Mormon, an ancient Mesopotamian law was discovered that is remarkably similar to the Book of Mormon. It says, 1 kor of barley [she'um] is (priced) at [ana] 1 shekel of silver; 3 qa of "best oil" are (priced) at 1 shekel of silver; 1 seah (and) 2 qa of sesame oil are (priced) at 1 shekel of silver [and so on]. .
