Naomi Tutu, who "blends her passion for human dignity with humor and personal stories" informed by the challenges of growing up black and female in apartheid South Africa as the third child of Archbishop Desmond and Nomalizo Leah Tutu.
Once again, Women of Spirit and Faith will invite the voices of every woman to be heard at the Alchemy gathering. The event will feature unique Leadership Conversations, which will engage every attendee through facilitated dialogue and interaction. There will also be workshops focused on skill building in the arenas of media, collaboration, and leadership development.
The organization is inviting Networking Partners to explore new models of collaboration at Alchemy and beyond. A Young Leaders Council will be launched at the event to support and nurture the spiritual leadership of young women, and an anthology of voices from the event will be published in fall 2012 by SkyLight Paths.
The word ‘alchemy' in the title of the conference hints at the importance of leaving room for miracles and mystery. Organizers have the intention to create a safe and nurturing space with a sacred center. Rev. Cheen observes, "We are ready to be surprised by the new ideas and collaborative initiatives that will emerge."
