Christian Pastor: The Orlando Nightclub Massacre Occurred Because God Gave Up on the Gay Victims

Christian Pastor Kevin Swanson is perhaps best known for his belief that gay people are “worthy of death” — a belief that didn’t stop three Republican presidential candidates from attending one of his conferences last year.

There are instances in which both the Old and New Testament speak to the matter with unbelievable clarity… You know what that sin is. It’s the sin of homosexuality… In fact, in Romans 1, Paul affirms that this particular sin is worthy of death… Granted there are varying levels of clarity/relevant relating to ethics, but still, the Old and New Testament, I believe, both speak with authority and we ought to receive it.

So you would expect Swanson to have something horrible to say following last week’s mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando… and the man didn’t disappoint his fans.

Swanson stated that the victims were killed because God had given up on them.

“Why do homosexuals murder homosexuals?” he asked. Because, according to Romans 1, “God gave them up to vile passions.” “Violence” and “murder,” he said, are deeply tied to homosexuality.

“What’s the bottom line as we view what’s happening in Orlando today?” he said. “I think it is, again, the Romans 1 scenario, it is that God gives them up.

The Orlando massacre, Swanson added, shows what happens when God’s “restraints have been lifted entirely and when God doesn’t restrain, people go nuts in their sins.”

If that’s why “homosexuals murder homosexuals,” I can’t wait to hear Swanson’s explanation for why straight people murder straight people. Because that happens *way* more often.

On a side note, I get that Christians believe homosexuality is a sin. What I don’t get is the hypocrisy that also says all sins are equally bad. You’ll never see Christian bakers say they won’t sell cakes to divorced people getting remarried or angry pastors say that straight adulterers need to be shot by a firing squad. That level of hatred is always reserved for the LGBT crowd, isn’t it?
