I realize pastors aren’t coming to me for advice on how to get butts in the seats at church… but I’ll go ahead and say it anyway:
This isn’t the way to do it.
Umm… no thanks. If your church sign could double as a recruiting tool for an Islamic terrorist group, you should try a different marketing campaign.
It appears this sign is a real concept (though I’m not sure how many churches actually put it up). In other words, it was intended to elicit this reaction.
So why would anyone want to join a church where people get killed every 5 minutes? Because, the sign’s designers say, “when a lost world sees Christians preferring to die than dishonour their Lord — they see faith that’s real.”
… or we see a bunch of people making even more irrational decisions than usual.
In any case, I’m not sure if those numbers are accurate (here’s the apparent source material), but I have no doubt Christians are genuinely persecuted in large numbers in many countries.
I would add, however, that not a single one of those countries is the United States, no matter how many God’s Not Dead movies they make.
