Republican Congresswoman Blames School Shootings on Grocery Store Pornography

Republican Congresswoman Diane Black of Tennessee knows exactly what causes school shootings.

Access to guns? Nope.

Violent video games? Wrong.

Teaching evolution in school? Not quite.

The gubernatorial candidate offered her answer during a meeting last week with pastors:

During a meeting last week with local pastors, Black raised the issue of gun violence in schools and why it keeps happening.

“Pornography,” she said.

“It’s available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but there’s pornography there,” she continued. “All of this is available without parental guidance. I think that is a big part of the root cause.”

Wha sort of porn is she watching…? And what sort of grocery stores does she visit…? And is she aware that the internet has made the sentence, “I went to the grocery store to buy pornographic magazines” obsolete?

By her logic, every teenage boy should be a murderer.

She never elaborated on what it was about adult films that led to school shootings, and her campaign didn’t respond to reporters’ requests for comment.

But she did offer other explanations during her talk:

Beyond naughty movies, Black said school shootings are on the rise because of the “deterioration of the family,” mental illness and violent movies.

Basically, gun deaths can be blamed on everything except guns and all-too-easy access to them. What’s next? Junk food? Netflix-binging? Not brushing your teeth?

It doesn’t have to make sense. You just need to have a decent-sized platform and gullible listeners who don’t care about evidence.

Too bad Black has an abundance of both.
