Andrew Yan teaches courses on Chinese religions including Confucianism, Daoist Religion, Daoist Philosophy, Buddhism and Popular Chinese Religions. He has taught in the Chinese Daoist College, China; University of Botswana in Botswana; Hope College, USA; and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
He has researched extensively on Chinese religions especially the classical period. He has also research interests in comparing Christianity with Chinese religions.
His teaching interest is also extensive. Besides Chinese religions, he also teaches World Religions and Comparative Mysticism.
1998 he received the University of Saskatchewan President SSHRC grant to conduct a research on the Guodian Confucian texts discovered not long ago.
