“Just like me, they long to be close to you.”
Not sure why that’s that old song by The Carpenters is first thing I thought of, but let’s roll with it.
I remember the very first time I had a crush on a boy. All I wanted was to be close to him. And I knew he liked me, too. But… parents.
That’s how, so often, it is. We let someone else get between us and the person we love. Because that person is, according to the definition of others, somehow… “inappropriate.” I’m sure Shakespeare wasn’t telling us a new story when he wrote Romeo and Juliet. People have been falling in love with the “wrong” people since Bible times, and probably before that.
Jesus told us that His new commandment was to love others like He loves us. I don’t remember Him saying, “unless, of course, that person is inappropriate.”
For the love of God, people, can we just quit limiting people on who they love. More love. More. Love.

Seriously, I had no idea where this was going. I’m crying. I think it’s time to stop.

Taking a break, at least for a few hours, from whining about the Clean Eating Challenge to do something completely different. Five Minute Friday at Lisa-Jo Baker’s place. (General details here.) Where a hopefully more clothed bunch of folks have gathered to present their wild meanderings. Writers’ Anonymous, if you will. Flash mob style. Maybe it’ll be inappropriate. No judging allowed.
