Tuesday of Holy Week

Tuesday of Holy Week
“Jesus replied, ‘Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?’” (Mark 12:24)
Less than 100 hours from His arrest, crucifixion, and burial. His last public conversations are with the religious elite. Church people. Those who have committed their entire lives to learning the Scriptures and growing in their knowledge of God. His last hours on the earth, Jesus spent precious time revealing to these men the hypocrisy of their lives (see Mark 11:27-33; 12:1-44; 13:1-37).
It’s possible to know much about the Bible but not know the Scriptures.
It’s possible to know much about God but not know His power.
It’s possible to be in the presence of God and not know it.
It’s possible to be listening to the Son of God Himself and want to kill Him.
It’s possible to be religious and churchy and a biblical scholar and miss the entire point.
Less than 4 days from Jesus’ death He makes sure His disciples know that unless it points to Him and a resurrected Jesus – it’s empty. Void. Invalid. Pointless. If your Bible study doesn’t lead you to a deeper affection for and commitment to following Jesus, you haven’t finished yet.
It’s possible to know the Bible and truths about God and be in complete error.
