Christmas is almost upon us, and while the entire world gathers together to celebrate and remember the birth of the Savior of the world, one of the greatest ways to celebrate—aside from eating cookies, caroling, and hanging lights—is by watching movies. Christmas movies have now become woven into the tapestry of yearly traditions for countless families around the globe. There’s just nothing like settling onto the couch with a mug of hot chocolate and a bowl of popcorn, surrounded by people we love, to watch films that remind us there is still goodness and beauty in the world.

But since many of us have been doing this for decades, we’ve ended up watching the same movies over and over again—and this can be wonderful. Who doesn’t love an annual viewing of Elf? Still, there’s also a need for new Christmas movies that can keep the spirit alive while offering us fresh stories to bring into our homes. So, I’ve made a list of Christmas films from the past fifteen years—brand-new stories you and your family can enjoy to keep the Christmas spirit alive in your home.

Spirited (2022) – “A comedy musical with heart, featuring music composed by the guys who wrote The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.”

The Holdovers (2023) – “A humorous and heart-touching, Oscar-winning film set in a boarding school over Christmas in the ’90s.”

Miracle on Highway 34 (2020) – “An indie gem about a group of strangers find themselves stuck in a truck stop diner during a blizzard, while an expecting couple tries to make it home on Christmas Eve.”

Arthur Christmas (2011) – “A fun, heartfelt, and adventurous animated romp about the other son of Santa.”

Noelle (2019) – “Santa’s daughter, Noelle, and his son Nick team up to save Christmas in a fun family comedy.”
