Worthy of God

Worthy of God July 19, 2016

It’s time for Pope Francis to ditch the part of the Mass that offends our modern sensitivities.  Suggesting that I am unworthy that you should enter under my roof is like saying I’m unworthy.  And in our modern age of individualized entitlement, that is anathema.  If God exists at all, it’s just so God could create a universe centered around the awesomeness of me getting whatever I want, whenever I want, as often as I want, with whomever I want, and if anything goes wrong it’s everyone else’s fault for being stupid and evil and hateful.  Which is why I’m fine with the government stepping in an putting the kibosh on their rights.  It’s not like it would ever happen to me.  I’m awesome.  No negative reinforcement sent my way.  When I was on a losing team I still got trophies, and when I failed in school I got to retake the tests until  I passed and got an A.

Which is why it’s high damn time the Church end this idea that I should say unworthy as if it applies to me.  We’ve been getting rid of such archaic notions for decades, and I think we can all agree that the results have been nothing but positive.  Can’t we?

BTW, this is a common trait among the various ‘liberation’ theologies in the world today: Taking traditional Christian values and turning them on their heads.  So with Feminist theology, for instance, pride is a virtue for women while humility can be quite the sin.  That’s because women have been forced to endure humiliation and oppression by their sexist, domineering male counterparts for endless eons.  So it’s up with pride, down with humility.  The same concept is quite clear in the above article.  I’m not unworthy. Are you kidding me?  I’m absolutely worthy God, so take that.
