Catholic film critic Deacon Steven Greydanus notices the stunning lack of positive Christian characters in modern Hollywood fare. He’s more kindly than he needs to be, shrugging his shoulders and just noticing the trend rather than suggesting there could be an actual reason for the negative versus positive portrayal of Christians. Nonetheless, it can’t be denied, and he’s willing to note where the exceptions have occurred as well as focus on the greater mystery of Hollywood’s inexplicable tendency to show Christians in a negative manner. Which is something you could only miss if you haven’t been to the movies in a few decades.
