The last Sunday of Advent is behind us

The last Sunday of Advent is behind us

That means Christmastime is almost here!  I’ve taken on a self-imposed hiatus from focusing on Christmas during Advent.  Contrary to the liturgical calendar of Sts. Macy and Woolworth, Advent is not supposed to be the time of parties and celebration.  That comes at Christmas.  Not before.

So rather than slipping into the temptation to act like Christmas is here and will be gone on the 26th, I exercised restraint.  No particular focus on Christmas this year.  It wasn’t easy.

But now that the final Sunday of advent is behind us, Christmas is almost here!   To kick it off, we have one of the greatest readings of the Gospel of Luke in recorded history, courtesy of Linus.  I can add nothing more, except my never ending admiration for this greatest of all televised Christmas specials.
