RIP Robert Hardy

Just saw Mr. Hardy passed away.  To many people today, he’s known from the Harry Potter films.  Donald McClarey tutors us on a few more interesting tidbits.  I had no idea that he studied under both Tolkien and Lewis.  And an expert on the longbow.  How awesome is  that.

My family’s main connection to him predated the HP craze.  Back in the 90s, when TLC was actually ‘The Learning Channel”, he hosted a series called Castle Ghosts.  It was a walk through famous castles of the British Isles, with stories about the ghosts associated with them.  Fun stuff.  Understated and leaning on atmosphere and old time chills.  The series was annual viewing around Halloween.

He will be missed.
