About

Justine Willis TomsOur attention is most often captivated by what comes straight at us in our life: those big changes that come rumbling down the highway like a Mac truck pulling a full load. For this blog, I’m more attracted to those smaller events that, when strung together like holiday lights, light up my life. I’m reminded of a the words of a dear friend, author, and superb storyteller, Phil Cousineau, who quotes the Irish novelist William Trevor, reminding us to pay attention to what we see “out of the corner of our eye.”

These are the kinds of moments that awaken my curiosity and deepen my appreciation and enjoyment of life. It’s my hope that this blog will remind you to look for the small events that cause a slight hesitation in your step. These are the luminescent pearls that, when strung together, become the delight of life. These are the moments I’ll be sharing in this blog.

Some of my life experiences include exploring, since 1973, personal, social, and spiritual transformation through my work as an electronic journalist, editor, and writer. I’m the Co-founder, Managing Producer, and Host of New Dimensions Radio. New Dimensions is an internationally syndicated radio series featuring dialogues addressing “the history of the future” with the world’s most visionary wisdom leaders. I have hosted the radio series “In Her Company: Deep Dialogues with Women of Wisdom,” and produced many award-winning radio series, including “Deep Ecology for the 21st Century,” and “Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature.” Besides my radio work I occasionally lead workshops on “Finding Grace in a Chaotic World.” I’m the co-author with Michael Toms of True Work: Doing What You Love and Loving What You Do and author of Small Pleasures: Finding Grace in a Chaotic World. I, along with Michael Toms, was selected for induction to the 2011 Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Besides my media work, I’m a founding convener of the Millionth Circle Initiative and have been actively involved in circle work since 1980, including being a founding member of a mixed circle of men and women who have been meeting regularly since 1980. This circle has been an intimate witness to our members during all the life cycles, including birth and death and everything in-between. I also participate in other circles including a women’s circle that has been meeting for over 30 years. In June 2004, I was one of thirty people invited to participate in the Synthesis Dialogues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India.
