I have always preferred a more traditional architecture for new churches. Before leaving Rome though, after four years of being surrounded by ancient, medieval, renaissance and baroque churches, I decided to visit the God Merciful Father Parish, or the Millennium Church, at the Roman suburb of Tor Tre Teste.
It was a long journey. The 100-minute trip took two bus rides and one trolley ride across the city. The church sits amidst suburban apartment buildings and stores. Completed in 2003, it is a masterpiece of the well-known architect Richard Meier.
Unfortunately, Mass ended as I arrived, but to my surprise, I enjoyed visiting the church. Light flooded the building from all directions. Here are some pictures, taken at about five in the afternoon.
