Rituals! On Mondays, we practice together. You are invited to join us in your head, or on your blog, or here in comments.
This past week, I noticed that my love of cooking is resurfacing. When I started a new job in February, for a while, every single thing that involved steps felt overwhelming. But I’ve come home from work and cooked dinner a couple of times in the last few weeks, and it’s perfect: I feel nurtured and accomplished all at the same time, and I have delicious lunches.
This coming week, I invite in savoring. The weather’s crazed swoops and dips are starting to include expeditions in the direction of perfect spring days, I am finding little pockets of quiet, and also, it is warm enough for ice cream sometimes. I want to relish these things at least as much as I tend to focus on the challenging or stressful things in my life.
Ways this could work: It could just work. I could try taking a breath with lovely things when I think of it. I could keep a list.
Updates from last week: Last week, I invited in the question “why?” and had some interesting conversations about it in various contexts. I also found that staying connected to “why?” helped me retain perspective on things that could have felt stressful. When I was a kid, my dad told me about how he realized the difference between urgent and important, and this week reminded me of that.
For all of you, I’m wishing for a wonderful week filled with all kinds of sunshine and savoring.
