Spells Explained

Spells Explained

Many non Pagans curiously ask me, “Do you cast spells?” To which replied “All the time.”

Then they ask me “How can you believe in them and have faith that they will work.” To which I reply “Do you believe in prayer?”

Personally I perceive prayer, ritual and spellcasting, as ways that the living, whilst here upon this physical plain, can petition and interact with Divinity, whatever their faith.

Prayer I know well, thirteen years of convent education has left me knowing all the set Christian prayers not just in English but French but also in Latin. I soon learned to rattle them off like a well versed parrot, as did we all, whilst at school. To me they have always been just words, however my spells are 3 dimensional, prayers of substance, not pre-structured by doctrine but scripted by myself, fueled with my own thoughts, passions, fears and needs. They are a part of me that transmits my petitions with the acknowledgment that I openly agree to pay whatever price they ask of me in return.

My chosen faith is the Goddess Path which dates back to the Neolithic, and probably long before; no-one wrote prayers back then, there was no recorded word, only sigils to demonstrate the desire of the spell, actions to fuel it, and with energies to send it forth.

So with respect all you Non-Pagan, please do not dismiss Pagan spellcasting as ‘Harry Potter’ mumbo jumbo, or Disney ‘wishing on a star”; our magic is indeed very real, it is the directing of Goddess/earth energies to aid our aims, and like any knowledge or weapon it is as good or bad as the user. Most Pagans walk gently upon this earth, for She is Divinity, our Goddess and Mother, and we choose to work for the betterment of humanity, please feel free to join us.

Blessings, Eve.
