The Divine Feminine: An Ancient Truth

The Divine Feminine: An Ancient Truth

Are your hackles raised, are you ready to fight?

Recently during a pagan study group, amongst fellow academic Pagans from Cherry Hill I made the simple statement that our earliest forebearers, the genetic pool of humanity, saw the Divine as feminine. You would have thought I had dropped a bomb, with the intent to start a ‘gender war’, the hue and cry was deafening; I could tell they did not agree.

They sort to turn my archaeologically founded comment into something it was not, seeing it as a feminist stance, born of inaccuracy; and they even blamed the late and talented archaeologist Mirija Gimbutas!
However in the nature of herminuetics I was happy to quantify my remark as I shall for you all now.

Firstly please get your head around ‘time’ , for I am talking DEEP time, our earliest connection can be traced back to little Lucy, 6 million years , but talking in plausibility terms we will start in the Paleolithic around 30,000 years ago……….remember Jesus was only 2,000 years ago! All those years ago simple minded humanity saw life coming forth anew from the female of the species; simple minds saw that all the females of creation held within them the Divine gift of new life, and their monthly bleeding with lunar synchronization served as further testimony of Divinity residing within.

My fellow class mates would not acknowledge that Hesiod’s Theogony in 500BC brought the arrival of the Gods, and argued Sumarian, Etruscan, and Egyptian, to which I respectfully screamed NO. You are 20,000 years out of sync. I was told there was no written proof and that being so I should retract my statement. I pointed out to them that the techniques of environmental archaeology are those of
forensic evidence just like the police; that which is good enough for the judicial system should also be good enough for life.
