Align Your Souls (Feri part 6)

Align Your Souls (Feri part 6) May 24, 2010

1 Man has no Body distinct from his Soul for that calld Body is a portion of Soul discerned by the five Senses, the chief inlets of Soul in this age.

2 Energy is the only life and is from the Body and Reason is the bound or outward circumference of Energy.
3 Energy is Eternal Delight – “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell,” William Blake

In common with many belief systems around the world, Feri posits that the nature of a human being is not dual, but multiplicitous and multifarious; unified, but understandable as three parts making up a whole, three selves or souls: Fetch, Talker, and the Godself.

Talker is the part you are used to thinking of as yourself. It’s your social self, the one you present to the world. Talker’s favorite tool is language, because that’s how we social-animal hominids evolved to connect with one another. Talker has its own magic, to do with glamorie and storytelling, but often the more rigid and less charming aspects of it tend to take over. Since it is by necessity focused outward and towards other people, Talker is also the most prone to being pulled out of whack.

Which is why in our training we often emphasize the Fetch, also called Younger Self or Animal Self. Fetch is the intelligence of your body, “discerned by the five Senses,” the part concerned with instinct, patterns, emotions, symbols, and your felt sense of being in the world. Unlike a lot of traditions, we do not denigrate or seek to suppress the “animal soul;” rather, Feri teaches that the Fetch has a special connection with the Godself even when Talker has drifted out of alignment, therefore one way to realign Talker with the whole is through Fetch.

The Godself is what it sounds like: that spark of the divine we each carry around with us, the part of ourselves that reaches beyond the here and now and the simply personal. Godself, also called the bird spirit or Holy Dove, connects us to the larger universe beyond our temporary concerns. The Godself is always present and cannot be lost; however, it can sometimes become a bit distant if your other selves have become disconnected.

The goal of some of our meditations (and arguably the goal of Feri overall) is to bring those parts back into alignment, to bring yourself back to yourself. One important step is to realize that you don’t “have” a Fetch, Talker, or Godself; you are Fetch, you are Talker, you are God/dess, all at once, fully human and fully divine.
