Wyrd Designs – An Ostara Prayer

The time of Ostara will soon be upon us, and fellow Pantheon writer Galina Krasskova’s latest article, and a recent shopping expedition at both World Market and Etsy… and well I suppose its understandable that I now have Ostara firmly on my brain. I’ve purchased this year’s pysanky eggs used to decorate my altar, and then at the conclusion of my Ostara observances, I’ll burn the eggs in offering. I’m hoping my kindred gets together to make some as well, but mine never come out nearly as good as those who are really skilled at it.

But since it’s hard to share pysanky eggs with you, instead I’ll share a prayer.

As we shake out
the cold cloak of winter
to welcome the coming
summertime warmth,
we greet thee Ostara–
Lady of the East–
with glad dancing hearts
at your joyous arrival.

Goddess of the Dawning sunrise
wash us in your glowing colors;
Bless us with joy and abundance,
so we may grow
in health and prosperity.
Grant us a springing step
to hop after the opportunities
cracked open before us.

For in you resides
the ripe promise of better days.

So we pray.
