Invocation (Songs for a Sacred Earth) by Jaiya

The next song makes me long for the shores of Ireland. I am aware of my being, yet transformed into just spirit form. One can feel the Ancient Ones speaking if you listen. The voice of the Eastern Winds speak in the ethereal melody of the flute. So close your eyes and with open ears, Even though this is an earth chant, the Brother Air is shining through in the beauty of the flute. So close your eyes and with open ears, I hope you enjoy “With Open Heart” as much as I did.

Their arrangement of “Earth Spirit Prayer”, a traditional Navaho prayer, is empowering in a subtle way. From the Eastern power of Winds, we next go to the Northern powers of the Earth. This prayer/chant will connect you and ground you almost immediately.

I really like “Turning Gyre”. Trying to find a good chant can be a chore at times, they create them. This can be used as a personal chant or one to heal the world.

“Om Nama Shiva” is an ancient Sanskrit mantra. The continuity of spiritual connectedness through the world is heard in this song.

The next song, “I Am All” is yet another great chant leading into the last song with lyrics, “Dona Nobis Pacem”. This is a Christian song for peace. The last two songs are instrumentals. “Serenade” and “Earth Spirit Prayers” are a great way to end the cd.

Invocation (Songs for a Sacred Earth) is definitely a must have for anyone who loves meditative sounds. It is upbeat yet relaxing. While the influences of Enya, Loreena McKinnett, and others are heard, especially Medwyn Goodall at the beginning, the sound is uniquely their own. During this journey, we have traveled many cultures and religions. As different as they all are, the themes in all the music remain the same. Peace and Harmony, both within and without and the relation of us all to the universe around us. I do not give out 5 pentacles easily, in fact have only done so on one other occasion, but Invocation (Songs for a Sacred Earth) definitely rates 5 out of 5 pentacles.
