I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God. It changes me. C.S. Lewis
Each time I share a musing with you dear readers, it seems as if another event has caused utter chaos in the world as we know it. If you are a fan of the absolutely amazing Tolkien, you might recall his musing about a sense of urgency that you could palpably feel in the air and in your spirit in The Lord of the Rings. Do you feel that way right now? I know I certainly do. I’ve said it before, I will say it again; we are at a precipice as a people. Everything is spiritually and physically at a tipping point. How can we handle it without absolutely breaking down in anguish? We must turn our hearts toward Jesus. I want to share a small piece of writing by the late Reverend Pat Carver. I’ve shared her sage wisdom before. It is amazing how timeless her words were from 1978, but as I contemplate them, I realize that they are drawing from God’s Word and He never changes. His message is timeless. His Word remains an anchor in the port of a serious storm.

A Stability Prayer
I stay calm in the midst of strife, fear, anger and other obstacles that are present in the world by attending to God’s Word, inclining my ears to His Word, not letting them depart from my eyes and keeping them in the midst of my heart. My times are made stable by His wisdom and knowledge. I am established in righteousness. Oppression, fear and terror are far from me. He gives His angles charge over me and I won’t dash my foot against a stone. They bear me up and I do remain stable and fixed. No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper and any that gather against me shall fall. The knowledge of His perfect love and all that it involves keeps me in perfect peace because He is love and my mind is stayed on Him. Perfect love casts out all fear. My soundness of mind involves that knowledge that I have His mind and He has not given me a spirit of fear.
I have the love of the Father, I have the Holy Spirit and Jesus and His soundness of mind. Jesus was never in fear or unbelief. He knew His Father and that He was always to be trusted. He knew the Word of God was forever settled in Heaven. As Jesus is in the world, so am I.
He is my Rock. He is my Fortress. He is my Deliverer. He is my Strength. He is my Shield and Buckler. He is the Horn of my Salvation. He is my High Tower. He is my Joy. Of whom or what shall I be afraid? He makes my way perfect. He is my stay. If God be for me, who can be against me? He is always present. He is my Shepherd. He is my Provider. He is my Peace. He is my Captain. He is my Banner and my Victor. He is my Physician. He is my Righteousness. He is Faithful and True. He is the All-Sufficient One. Amen.
