God is my strength and power.
II Samuel 22:33
Dear ones, this is another writing of my late mentor, Reverend Pat Carver. In this little book called, Sharing Life she wrote many powerful short devotions to read. I hope that you will be blessed by this one.
God is our Strength
To whom does strength belong? God’s people. Those who walk according to HIs laws and precepts. Those who look to Him and depend on Him. Those who accept the fullness of His Word. Webster’s Dictionary says this concerning strength: The state of quality of being strong. Force, vigor. The power to resist strain, stress. Toughness, durability. The power to resist attack. Impregnability. Psalm 18:32 says, “It is God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect.”

God’s strength is available to us
When we received God, in the person of Jesus Christ, His full strength became available to us. The word gird means to encircle, enclose and surround It means to prepare for action and to endow with attributes. God’s strength encircles us. It encloses us completely with Him and keeps us energized. When He is our source of strength, it stays at a constant level; none can be stolen from us. None of it is subject to anything natural. Because it is Super-natural strength to equip us for our tasks that day. No matter what the need, His strength can handle it. He fully supplies us with all we need. His strength is our resistance to stress and strain. One translation of I Peter 5:10 states that, “He shall perfect, that no defect remain in you, shall establish that nothing may shake you, shall strengthen that you may overcome every adverse force.”

The Hall of Fame of Faith is a good example
In Hebrews 11:11, where the Scripture speaks of Sarah, it says she received strength to conceive through faith. The Greek says she received power. Can you see how by and through our faith we receive strength and power? Her physical body received God’s strength-through His power, and caused her aged body to perform supernaturally. Her organs actually received strength and functioned according to that strength (she was 90 years old!). In the natural they were tired and without vigor. But through her trust and faith in God, He encircle her body and prepared it for action to bring forth the long promised heir! God endowed Sarah with His attributes. Life-Eternal Life!
God’s strength can dwell in us
So it can be with us! We need to become cognizant of who is inside us and of His Super-natural strength available to us. Through faith-see it, accept it from Him, let it empower your physical body, your mind and your emotions. People look to vitamins, foods and medicines (which are good for us) for strength-let’s look to El Shaddai-the God who is more than enough!
