New Idea in Australia published short interviews with religious leaders, asking them what they believe happens after a person dies. The Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology Sydney, Churlya Wurfel, responded this way:
Many Scientologists have certainty they have lived before. We call this past lies,not reincarnation, which is different. We believe that we come back into another human body. Often we recall a past life during Scientology auditing (religious counseling) and resolve the trauma from it and it helps fix something in our current life. Fears, phobias, insecurities can all come from an earlier life.
