Is God like a man,
Or is man like a god?
Are we made in the image,
Or is He made in ours?
Is God like a tree,
With branches and leaves?
Does he stand tall in the sun,
And tether in the breeze?
Is God in all things,
Or are all things in God?
Do we need Her to save us,
Or to give us a nod?
Is God like a man,
Or is man like a god?
Are we made in the image,
Or is He made in ours?
Is He like Empire,
Or is Empire like Him?
Does Divine do what we want,
Or are we at His whim?
Is God like a mystery,
Or mystery like truth?
Do we need to find answers,
Or take a journey of youth?
Is God like a man,
Or is man like a god?
Are we made in the image,
Or is He made in ours?
Is God like doctrine,
Or beliefs like a calf?
Do they lead us to wholeness,
Or divide us in half?
Is God like sermons,
Or are sermons a cure?
Do they help us grow stronger
Or help strengthen our fears?
God might be like sermons,
And might be like trees.
And might be like Buddha,
And might be just like me.
One thing is certain,
And I think it is true,
Once that I am certain
Then I’m certain I’m thru.
Is God like a man,
Or is man like a god?
Are we made in the image,
Or is He made in ours?
