1. I don’t think going to a place to “worship” is what Jesus prescribed. I can commune with others and the universe without going anywhere.
2. I personally have no need for clergy
3. I have no need for a church building
4. I don’t need the services the church provides, or I can do better elsewhere
5. Creeds and belief statements are controlling and promote stagnation
6. Indoctrination of children is abusive
7. Questions and honest dialog are not encouraged or facilitated.
8. It’s an organization, the organization comes first and it protects itself
9. The church is not good at healing trauma.
10. It promotes hierarchy, fear, & control.
Generally, the church is unwilling to analyze its faults, admit it’s mistakes and it still follows a 1500 year old model. The only question it asks, much like an MLM, is “How do we attract more prospects?”
If you feel differently, I support your right to do what you do, as long as your practices are not harming others. I also hope that you will honestly evaluate the efficacy of organized religion in the 21st century.
