Catholics Against Rudy Petition

Catholics Against Rudy Petition October 19, 2007

The good people at Catholics Against Rudy sent me an email tonight announcing that they now have a petition folks can sign if they’re interested in publicly opposing Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s bid for the GOP presidential nomination.

I plan on signing it, and I hope that many of you will as well.

I will gladly sign this petition. Thanks! btw…I recently blogged about Giuliani and my resolve to withhold support for his candidacy (http://brandonetaylor.wordpress.com/2007/10/16/giuliani-and-the-religious-right/)

  • Signed it. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Donald R. McClarey

    Signing accomplished!

  • Done. (That applies to both my signing of the petition, and I hope Rudy’s chances as well.)

If I were a Republican, I would definitely sign it. I’ve had it with political parties, especially the Republican Party. The founders specifically warned against political parties (which they called “factions”). See The Federalist No. 10. I will not vote in any primary.

I want a candidate who is (1) intelligent, (2) politically competent, and (3) embraces as much of Catholic Social Teaching as one could reasonably expect.

Giuliani has to be one of the worst candidates with respect to #3. I will never vote for him.

  • Timothy-

I don’t think there is anything that would prohibit you from signing the petition fwiw. It’s Catholics Against Rudy, not Republican Catholics Against Rudy. Moreover, the petition simply says that you will not be voting for Rudy in the GOP primary, and I think it is safe to say that you qualify under that definition. 🙂
