Does McCain know what’s going on outside Phoenix and D.C.? July 15, 2008

Do suitability and competence still count in a presidential race?  If so, John McCain ought to be in some trouble.  As if erroneous statements on Iran and forgetting his own policy position weren’t bad enough, now McCain is making references to countries that no longer exist!   On two different days, at two separate locales, McCain expressed his dismay over recent measures taken by Russia that affect Czechoslovakia.  Problem is, Czechosloavkia ceased to be a nation back in 1993.  So here we have McCain making obvious and unforgivable blunders on foreign issues that affect U.S. national security.  When it comes to possible Iranian aid to insurgents in Iraq or Russia’s economic bullying of the Czech Republic after the latter agreed with the U.S. on a missile defense system, it is discomforting to think that our next president may be someone who forgets facts, entities, and actions in foreign policy.

The more I think about it, this is Obama’s race to lose.
