Dobson: Life and Family, Si, Muslims, No

In justifying his change of mind to back McCain, James Dobson stated the following:

“Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation. His radical positions on life, marriage and national security force me to reevaluate the candidacy of our only other choice, John McCain.”

He followed up by noting that McCain favored “small government” and “seems to understand the Muslim threat.” So much for not defining a whole group of people as potential enemies, or fostering a “war against the other”, or dividing the world into a great dualistic struggle between light and darkness. So much for treating Muslims with love and respect, instead of indicting all for the crimes of a few. So much for ignoring the fact that peace requires justice first and foremost, necessitating the correction of economic and social imbalances in society. As a Christian, Dobson should understand these concepts, and adopt a consistent ethic of life. Right?
