A Sign

This is me (on the left) and my brother Luke (right) getting ready to go hunting this last Fall. We were in the coastal mountains north of the Bay Area, on a piece of BLM land that’s called the Knoxville Tract.

The guy who took this picture was a co-worker who had never hunted before. I’d asked him if he wanted to go hunting with us, and he’d accepted. He was looking forward to the outing, and was only sorry that he was not able to take the mandatory Hunter’s Safety Course to get his hunter safety card, which you need to get a license and tags.
This is the sign that greeted us at the sportsmen’s access gate. The hand is of my co-worker, James, a black man. The sign reads:

“Obama President: No Niggers in office. Get all niggers out of state [sic] of California.”

I asked James if he wanted to go hunting with us this year. He said, “Nah, just take some pictures and show me when you get back.”
