On this basis, who has the better policies to facilitate a family raising a child with special needs? Clearly, the answer is Barack Obama, through his support for: universal health care, programs for pre- and post-natal care, programs emphasizing parenting skills, income support to families, extending the Family and Medical Leave act (that would, among other things, allow leave to be taken for purposes of caring for family members for six months or more), flexible work arrangements, expansion of paid sick days, expansion of the child and dependent care tax credit, expansion of the earned income tax credit, a tax cut for working families, and an increase in the minimum wage.
