About Animate

Trigger deep conversations with this series of courses for adults.

Animate is an original take on adult education that stirs curiosity. Participants are engaged and inspired to connect with their faith. Facilitators don't have to have all the answers. Animate encourages everyone—including the facilitator—to participate in the experience, have a point of view, and deepen faith.

Videos bring seven contemporary Christian leaders from across the country into your group setting. They are authors, pastors, theological experts, and professors—and they each have compelling perspectives.

Animate resources appeal to a variety of learning styles, and have lots of ideas for discussion. Sessions don't include fill-in-the-blank activities or answer guides, but they do include prompts for creativity—like doodling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during an Animate: Bible session?
In each session, the group will watch a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, spend time on personal reflection and journaling, and share ideas with the group. The order of the session is up to you.

Who are the voices featured in the curriculum?
Animate: Bible features seven leading thinkers and practitioners of the Christian faith: Eric Elnes, Jay Bakker, José Morales, Nadia Bolz-Weber, Phyllis Tickle, Rachel Held Evans, and Will Willimon.

What do I need to buy to use Animate: Bible?
You'll need a DVD, a Facilitator Guide for each facilitator, and a Bible Journal for each participant. You can purchase the complete curriculum, or buy topics a la carte.

How is the Bible Journal used in a group setting?
The keepsake journal draws participants to delve deeper and reflect on session content. Participants can jot notes, share creations, find inspiration, and make connections wherever they are—at church and at home.

Do facilitators need to do a lot of prep work?
Animate: Bible is open-ended in nature, but that doesn't mean facilitators have to spend hours preparing. The Facilitator Guide features plenty of notes, ideas, and a structural framework for facilitating each session.
