Tulsa, Oklahoma – Light from the Darkroom, a 2015 Golden Drover award-winning film, has been released for rent or purchase on Amazon Instant Video. The movie is a religious thriller centered on the disappearance of two brothers following an attack against religious pilgrims in China. When mysterious photos turn up back home in Panama, the leading characters find their beliefs challenged and their lives forever changed. Oscar Sosa believes in the power of money, Li Cheung believes in the power of government, Dr. Carmen Hill believes only in herself, and Blanca Zamora believes when all others have lost faith.
The film's script was written by Kathleen Rooney and Al Reinert, the Oscar nominated co-writer of Apollo 13. Kathleen Rooney is married to Francis Rooney, who served as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See and is a member of the Panama Canal Advisory Board. The settings and subject matter of the film reflect a deep knowledge of and respect for those experiences.
Light from the Darkroom was directed by Lance McDaniel and produced by Nathan Gardocki. It features a primarily Latino and Asian cast, including Puerto Rico's Lymari Nadal (American Gangster, America) who is starring alongside former Miss Panama and Telenovela star Patricia De Leon (Love Orchard, Men of Certain Age).
The leading men include Russell Wong (Romeo Must Die, The Joy Luck Club) and Steven Michael Quezada (Agent Steven Gomez, Breaking Bad).
Light from the Darkroom is rated PG-13 for violence.
