Joyce Meyer was born Pauline Joyce Hutchinson in south St. Louis in 1943. She still speaks with a working class St. Louis accent. She founded her own ministry in 1985 and initially called it "Life in the Word." During the same year, she began airing her radio show on a variety of stations. She began airing "Enjoying Everyday Life" in 1993 as a part of a television ministry. In 2005, she was ranked as one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America.
