Mooney: How would you tell people to approach your art?
Emmons: The thing that keeps coming to me is to be still before it and take your time. If they give their presence to the work, hopefully they will receive a presence back. It takes time for that to happen. I did a three panel gilded piece that took me three months of hard work and someone, after looking at it for 30 seconds, said, "What are you giving me?" I simply said, "Gold!" It can't happen in 30 seconds. It's giving your attention and intention. It's very similar to prayer.
