An interview of Dr. Mark D. Roberts -- October 16, 2009

The Reverend Dr. Mark D. Roberts, renowned pastor, public speaker, author and blogger, was recently in Boston to give a sermon at Park Street Church, as a part of the church’s year-long bicentennial celebrations. He gave graciously of his time and answered our questions on The Life and Death of Faith on Campus.

Mark received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate at Harvard University, and has taught New Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary and San Francisco Theological Seminary. He shepherded the Irvine Presbyterian Church for sixteen years. Recently he has served as Senior Director and Scholar-in-Residence for Laity Lodge, and has written Can We Trust the Gospels? Investigating the Reliability of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. His blog is the aptly titled www.markdroberts.com.

 

Can you describe your own life of faith in your university years?

 

Were there particular questions or doubts that loomed large for you in your university years?

 

How, practically, should the doubter respond to her doubt? And what does God feel when He looks down upon the doubter?

 

What advice would you give an incoming student who seeks to grow and give witness to his faith in the university years? And in a classroom, when our faith is challenged, how should Christians respond?
