Slate.com created "80 Over 80," a list of 80 of the most powerful people over the age of 80. Occupying the #1 spot is Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Slate's short piece doesn't make an argument for why Monson should take the number one spot, but simply points out that thirteen million Mormons esteem him as a prophet, he has dedicated several new temples, and led the LDS Church in relation to Prop 8 in California.
