What to Pray on a National Day of Prayer?

National Day Prayer should be about a vision, not a specific political or cultural agenda. I have tried to couch my own prayer concerns, noted above, broadly in such a way that they might embrace persons of diverse theological perspectives. Our prayers can make a difference in healing our hearts and the nation. While we don't know specifically what is best for ourselves or our nation, we can turn toward God's creative wisdom that calls us beyond ourselves to balance love of self, family, nation, and the world in ways that bring beauty and healing to people and the planet. This, I believe, is the true meaning of a National Day of Prayer.
