Christ, by highest Heav'n adored,
Christ the everlasting Lord.
Late in time, behold him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th'incarnate Deity.
Pleased with man as man to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
P.S. In fact, Wesley did write about the Godhead veiled in flesh and the incarnate Deity. But his original composition did not include herald angels. Wesley's Christmas vision involved the whole "welkin." Perhaps I'll have more to say about this at another time.
